The Opportunity:

Red River Co-op is recruiting for the position of Cashier at our Gimli Food Store, located at 83 Centre Street in Gimli, Manitoba. This position reports to the Grocery Manager. The Cashier adds value to our Co-operative by providing world-class customer service that is fast, friendly and efficient.

Essential responsibilities of the position include the following:

• Deliver world-class customer service that is fast, friendly and efficient.
• Educate customers on the benefits of membership in Red River Co-op and encourage them to join.
• Operate a cash register, take payment from customers and provide change.
• Follow all legal requirements regarding the sale of lottery and tobacco products.
• Perform general housekeeping duties to ensure department image and safety standards are followed. Ensure sanitation and cleanliness standards are to Co-op specifications, including cleaning of all equipment and display cases.
• Follow safe front-line loss prevention practices and maintain a constant alert against unauthorized removal of merchandise from the site.
• Present a neat, clean, well-merchandised department and related work areas (checkout areas and nearby displays).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About You:

• Excellent interpersonal skills. We're looking for individuals who builds great relationships with co-workers and customers.
• Strong customer focus and interest in serving others.
• Good mental math skills.
• Experience working in a retail environment. Specifically, experience handling cash would be an asset.
• Open availability and willing to work different shifts including days, evenings and weekends.
