Our client is seeking an experienced retail manager to help launch, develop procedures and train staff for 2 new retail operations in Pikangikum First Nation in Northern Ontario. You will work alongside the general managers for both the new 36 unit motel/diner and brand new 20,000 square foot grocery and hardware store. What the successful candidate will bring: A passionate team leader with experience in relief work in remote indigenous communities. Previous experience with motel/diner, hospitality and general store operations. Demonstrated cooking experience and ability to manage an inexperienced staff would be an asset. Demonstrated ability to hire, develop and retain local staff. Excellent interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to develop community relations. Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to coach and reinforce operational expectations. Exceptional organizational, time management, planning and prioritization skills. Ability to adapt to changing environments and situations by demonstrating proficiency in problem solving and decision making skills. Demonstrated ability to adapt to stressful situations and different cultures and surroundings. Knowledge of northern indigenous culture and work environment would be an asset. In return, what you can expect: Opportunity to have a positive impact on the community in helping to launch 2 major retail operations. A salary of $100,000 to $110,000 including a bonus and benefits package. Fully furnished home, truck and relocation provided. Renewable 6 month term for the implementation project.
