Big White is seeking applications for the position of Retail Supervisor for the upcoming winter season. Big White operates a variety of mountain retail outlets offering a diverse range of products, from ski and snowboard related merchandise to technical apparel and giftware. As a Retail Supervisor, you will lead by example in creating a welcoming and engaging shopping experience while supporting the daily operations of the store. Working closely with the Retail Management team, this role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations including staff supervision, merchandising, inventory support, and sales performance. The successful candidate will demonstrate proven leadership and a strong commitment to exceptional guest service through coaching and motivating team members, maintaining high operational standards, resolving guest concerns professionally, and ensuring guests receive knowledgeable and attentive service that helps create lasting memories of their time at Big White. A positive, collaborative approach and confidence in directing and supporting staff are essential to success in this role. Duties and responsibilities include: * Deliver exceptional guest service through strong product knowledge and a passion for outfitting guests with the right gear and apparel * Lead, support, and motivate retail staff to create a positive, energetic, and team-focused workplace * Act as a key link between staff and management, communicating team needs and operational priorities with professionalism and fairness * Lead by example with strong accountability, professionalism, and team support * Drive sales performance by promoting a strong, service-focused selling culture * Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally with a solution-focused approach * Coach, train, and support staff development in product knowledge, service, and sales skills * Support daily operations including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and store standards * Maintain strong merchandising standards and store presentation in collaboration with Visual Merchandisers, delegating team support as needed * Oversee receiving, stock control, replenishment, and inventory accuracy * Follow all procedures related to loss prevention and safe cash handling * Operate Retail Pro Prism POS system accurately and efficiently * Participate in ongoing product knowledge and training sessions Required qualifications/skills: * Strong leadership and communication skills that models professionalism, team culture, and motivates members through direct coaching and accountability * Proven customer service mindset with a friendly, outgoing, and professional attitude * Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment * Previous retail experience required (2–3 years preferred), with supervisory or key-holder experience considered an asset, ideally in outdoor/sporting goods or apparel * Ability to confidently lead others in the use of computer applications, POS systems, and daily retail tools * Strong cash handling, POS transaction accuracy, and basic accounting/mathematical skills * Ability to manage administrative responsibilities including reporting, operational follow-up, and supporting scheduling needs * Strong working knowledge of the facility, services, and local area to support both guest experience and staff training * Skilled in dealing with guests and team members of all ages with patience, fairness, and strong emotional intelligence * Comfortable making decisions, resolving conflict, and supporting staff and guest concerns in a fast-paced environment * Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and peak resort periods (e.g., Christmas, spring break) * Comfortable working in a cold alpine environment and transitioning between indoor and outdoor spaces Location: Big White Ski Resort, BC, Canada Duration: Start dates from October 2026. The winter season at Big White closes in mid-April 2027 Wages: Starting wage $21.50 an hour This is a full time position and we endeavor to provide between 32-40 hours work per week, however there may be times when you are required to work more or fewer hours than this. Candidate selection and interviews will begin in June 2026.
